With T4 sized turbine housings, there is no performance
advantage to changing the exhaust manifold to match...
So, why go to the expense? Our adapter flange makes for
an inexpensive alternative to replacing the manifold and
allows for quicker changes back and forth from T4 to T3
turbos.
When
should I upgrade my turbocharger?
The stock turbocharger efficiency parameters can only handle
about a 70 HP increase. Adding additional fuel/power to develop
power above 70 HP requires a different turbocharger. The turbocharger
compressor housing and wheel design must be properly sized to
pump the amount of air required to maintain the correct air
to fuel ratio. The turbine housing and wheel design must flow
the correct volume and velocity of exhaust gas. A properly matched
turbo should be easy to install and result in low exhaust temperatures,
low exhaust smoke emissions, low intake temperature and quick
turbo response.
