Product Details

Product Name: Low Fuel Pressure Alarm Kit (Red LED)
Manufacturer: BD Diesel
Manufacturer Part #: 1081130
Thoroughbred Diesel Part #: BDD1081130
Application: 1998.5-2007 Dodge 5.9L Cummins

The purpose of this kit is to indicate to the driver with the red/amber LED, if the supply fuel pressure of the VP44 injection pump is dropping below 5psi. Also note that damage may result to the VP44 if it is starved for fuel. If you are finding that your existing setup cannot supply enough fuel for the VP44, you may want to look at some additional kits to protect your system.

On newer ISBe engines the purpose of the kit is to alarm the driver once the fuel pressure drops below 5psi, indicating that an auxiliary pusher pump is needed. For safety anything over about 400 HP will need an auxiliary pusher pump. We Recommended the BD early warning light when purchasing a replacement VP44 fuel pump.

NOTE: Dodge VP44 fuel pumps do not come with low fuel pressure early warning sensor. We Recommended the BD early warning light.

Reasons For Low Supply Pressures:

  • Plugged filter
  • Plugged fuel tank pickup
  • Weak or dead factory lift pump
  • Too much demand and not enough supply (High horsepower)
Kit includes:
  • (1) - 5psi Pressure Switch
  • (1) - LED Assembly
  • (2) - Female Blade Connectors
  • (1) - Mini-Fuse Tapper
  • (2) - Sealant Washers
  • (1) - Flag Connector (for use with mini-fuse tapper)
  • (1) - Tapped Banjo Bolt (2000+ Dodges only)

Reviews

  • Are there any instructions for this kit?Is this pressure switch the one that screws into the pump on the return line?

    Dae | 3/18/2024

Yes. The sensor will screw into the banjo fitting on the feed side.

  • What is the HO means for the injection pump orders I see a VP44 non HO

    Juan Gonzalez | 7/3/2019

The HO pumps usually denotes the pumps used in the 2000-2002 6 speed trucks

  • How does it hook up to power?

    Rick Coats | 5/6/2019

This will hook up to a key on power source via fuse tapper to tap a fuse in the factory fuse panel.
