Product Details

Product Name: Banks Power Derringer Tuner (Gen2), with iDash 1.8 DataMonster
Manufacturer: Banks
Manufacturer Part #: 66794

Fitment Notes: 2014-2018 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel and 2014-2017 Grand Cherokee

The idea of stacking in-line tuners is foiled by the EcoDiesel ECU. It limits EGT to 1500F. We manipulate that with the afterburner and get all there is to be had. Stacking anything on top of this, as long as you're running the stock turbo, is a fools errand. And, a waste of your money. iDash DataMonster adds data-logging, vehicle monitoring, and vehicle diagnostics.

The Derringer system stops the competition dead in their tracks. Results in torque and power gains across the full operating rpm range, starting right off idle and marching to the shift point in each gear. Derringer is dyno calibrated to use multiple data inputs such as throttle position, rpm, vehicle speed, AFR, Knock and coolant temperature, just like your engine's ECU. Its microprocessor based electronics are able to actively and safely optimize calibrations in real time. No competitive product does that.

Derringer has six switched settings with the included iDash 1.8 Super Gauge and produces Best in Class performance knocks you back in your seat. The Level 3 setting is for work use and has great mid-range feel. When running Level 3 with a loaded work truck and/or pulling a trailer, your on ramp merging speeds and passing times are greatly improved.

The electronics are molded into a waterproof connector, which is easily concealed and communicates using B-Bus (Banks Bus) with other devices such as our iDash 1.8 Super Gauge/Control Center. The Derringer connects in line with the Throttle Inlet Pressure (TIP) and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensors. But, unlike others it also connects to the vehicle's OBDII diagnostic bus connector. A CAN (controller area network) transceiver chip communicates with OBD or B-Bus allowing our microprocessors to talk with the vehicle. And, Derringer's special coolant temp watchdog prevents power addition when the engine is too cold or overheated. The Derringer also auto-adjusts power if knock occurs due to bad fuel. Maximum safe power is all automatic with a Derringer, you just choose your setting.

  • I have a stock 2015 ram EcoDiesel- was getting 27 mpg factory recall paid me $3000 now get 19- will this device increase milage - if so how much?

MPG’s will vary with vehicle and operation, but typically 1-3 mpg increase.

  • Hello,Do you recommend any exhaust changes with this kit? Also do you recommend I do an egr delete on it?Since I got it back from the dealer when they did the egr cooler issue the truck only gets 22mpg no matter around town or on the highway and the hesitation/turbo lag is terrible.ThxKeith

No, and no EGR removal. This is an emissions friendly product.

  • what is your return policy?

  • Re the ecodiesel: Is the Derringer system OK to use on an Ecodiesel the has been detuned [ reprogramed ] with the class action lawsuit changes? It now has much less power, mileage and a marked increase in turbo lag { death lag ] . FCA is stating that the reprograming will not affect the power or mileage- yet it certainly has.

This tuner is designed to run with a stock vehicle.
